Ankle Arthritis

The ankle is made up of 3 bones, which articulate with each other to help in the movement of your foot. The articulating surfaces are covered by slippery cartilage tissue that aids in frictionless movement as the bones move. Wear-and-tear, inflammation or injury can damage the cartilage, leading to a painful condition called arthritis. Treatment methods can range from non-surgical treatments with medication, assistive devices and physical therapy to surgery.
